How to get to Stromness Ferry Port

There is limited land transport available from Stromness Port. Minivans are on hand most of the time to take visitors to nearby localities, and are timed to coincide with arriving vessels. Taxi services are also available, providing rides to Kirkwall and the surrounding areas.

Stromness Ferry Port by Car

The Port of Stromness can easily be accessed by road. Once you arrive in the city, the way to the port is well-signposted and motorists should have no difficulties driving to the port.

Stromness Ferry Port by Bus

Public bus services terminate at the Stromness ferry terminal building. NorthLink Ferries also runs a bus service that serves disembarking and embarking passengers to and from the ferry terminal. A frequent bus service follows a route from Stromness to Kirkwall Airport. Additionally, there is a bus that follows a route to Birsay once a week.
